Welcome to my homepage. My name is Martin Smith. I am a New Zealander, but have lived in London, England since 1985. My interests include Sci-Fi, Flight Simulators, Aviation, Computers, Computer Games, Photography, Astronomy, Reading, Food and Beer Tasting.

Currently, my favorite Sci-Fi shows are Andromeda, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica 2, Crusade, Farscape, Firefly, Star Trek (TOS,TNG,DS9,VOY,Enterprise), and Stargate (SG1,Alantis).

My favourite authors at the moment include Dale Brown, Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, Micheal Crichton, Issac Assimov, Greg Bear, and Iain M. Banks.

Like the rest of my family, I love animals. At times during my life, my parent's place has resembled a Zoo where we have had many animals including Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Birds, and Fish (all at the same time). My favourite animal is a Tiger, one of the most beautiful and powerful animals in the world.

I am currently working as a Systems Consultant for The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. If you are interested in more work details you can view my Curriculum Vitae. Luckily I have chosen a job in Computing which is also a main interest of mine :-).

My collection of computers at home include 3 Home Built PCs - (One Desktop, one Server and one for testing), an Acorn Risc PC, and an Archimedes (440/1). I like building computers, and I enjoy developing software and learning as much as possible about Operating Systems (especially Linux). Current Computer games I am playing include Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004, Far Cry, Half Life 2, Flight Simulator 2004 and all of the Myst Series.

Although I spend most of my computer career working with Microsoft products I now prefer Linux. I try and spend as much time as possible (mainly at home) using and learning Linux.
